Steelcraft is likely to be the most diverse dragon boat team you will ever see paddling in one boat. We are a group of men and women from mid-twenties to 50+ from South Africa, Egypt, Syria, Russia, France, UK, Hungary, Armenia, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, New Zealand, Philippines, Canada and Mexico
Our professions and backgrounds are just as diverse and we strongly believe that this is what makes us great. The fact that we can manage to come together like family to do what we are passionate about is proof that this sport is truly a unifying force.
In a place like Dubai where people lead busy lives and often come and go, it is not always easy to create a strong unity but our team has managed to grow in the last few years and it is the strongest it has ever been. Our coaches Melanie Janelle and Bela Kocsis each bring a different dimension to our development and the beautiful water of our home city gives our dragons the force to keep growing as a team and as a dragon boat community. During this CCWC, we plan to paddle like never before, but we also come to proudly show how background differences mean nothing when respect and passion are part of the mix. Paddles up!
